Learn How to Filling Out a Wal-mart Online Employment Application - Where to Go

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
Bryan Burbank asked:

Walmart is one of the largest employers in the US and if you are thinking about getting a job there you need to know how to fill out a online application so that you have the best chance to get hired.

Learn How To: Get the Perfect Job

If you are applying for a upper level manager job then do not use the online method you want to send in your application.

Learn About: Positive Work Habits

When you are ready to apply then just visit the Walmart career website and make sure that you read each section before you enter any information because you want to understand what they are asking before you fill it in. Next you will create a user name and password so that you have access to the website at anytime.

When filing in the application make sure that you have all the information ready to enter so that when they ask you about past jobs etc. you do not get stuck or fill in the wrong information. Make sure that when you fill in the reason you have left past jobs you are positive and not negative because being negative can be on of the easiest ways not to get a job.

Most of the information that they ask is similar to most job applications so just be honest with the information that you give them and you will have a good shot at getting the job.

As always take your time when filling out an online application and check your answers you do not want to rush through it and have a lot of mistakes.

How To Avoid Auto Repair and Service Scams

Sunday, April 26th, 2009
David Maillie asked:

There’s a reason why auto service stations have one of the largest numbers of complaints with state attorney generals in every state. Some uphold good business practices and ethics, but most, unfortunately are all about profit and don’t care if they have to lie and cheat to get it. To prove this all one has to do is go to several dealers with the same problem or question. You will get many different answers, price ranges and estimates all for the same problem(s) and almost all recommending unnecessary and unneeded services or repairs.

Just ask the dealer the question of routine maintenance and what is recommended at each service. If you open your owners manual it will tell you what is recommended for normal driving habits and some may give you recommendations for harch conditions. Regardless of your climate and weather most service advisors will tell you that the area of your country qualifies for harsh and extreme weather - they are trained to do this as it requires more services and makes them more money. Its not whether your car needs it - most people will qualify as normal conditions and require a lot less servicing per the National Highway Traffic Safety Association and AAA. The manufacturer made those owners manuals after millions of dollars were spent on design, research, and testing - I think I would listen to the manual.

On calling several dealers as to recommended mileage intervals between oil changes we got a range of 3,000 - 3,500. It didn’t matter what area of the country we called. The answer was the same. Upon reading the owners manual of several cars it says 4,000 - 5,000 for normal driving habits. We then called asking about the correct mileage to change a timing belt 60,000 to 70,000 was the answer range we got. The owners manuals gave a range of 90,000 -100,000. This is proof positive that profit hungry dealers are pushing up more expensive services, requiring additional and unnecessary services, and basically scamming and ripping off customers. We could not find an honest new car dealer in the bunch, but we did find one service and repair shop that did not require anything over the manufactures recommendations.

Our recommendations:

1) Read your owners manual and take it with you for servicing. Let the service advisor try and argue with you over when an actual service is really recommended. Don’t pay attention to his fancy charts and recommendations. 2) Check and see if your warranty covers the item and if it is really necessary. 3) Oil changes are only $14.95 at Walmart - why pay more at your dealer (dealer average is $26). The oil is the same and you can get synthetic, the best, for the price the dealer charges for regular. As an added bonus, Walmart won’t push unnecessary repairs or services on you. Walmart is also much cheaper for tires - so is BJ’s, and Discount Tire. 4) Do minor items your self. Windshield wipers cost only $4 for a set of two of the same original equipment quality. Just guess what dealers charge. We only asked a few as we could quickly see, just like with oil changes, that the dealer wants to make a lot of money - $54 including installation for the same $4 wipers. Buy then at most Auto parts stores and they will install them for free. 5) If you must use a dealer for repair, always call around. Don’t just take their word for it. Before you go to the dealer, check them out with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Find out what their customers are saying.

The most important thing to remember here is to not get scammed. Some services are needed, just check it out and make sure the dealer isn’t just trying to get a high priced and unnecessary service out of you. Get your owners manual and read the section on required services - it will save you money nest time you visit your dealer. Remember their service advisors are constantly trained just like car salespeople to get you to buy regardless of whether you may need it.

All Websites are International

Monday, April 20th, 2009
Jerry Bader asked:

ll, the late Speaker of The House of Representatives is often quoted as saying “All politics is local,” meaning a politician that helps a constituent with a problem is likely to win that vote based on the personal assistance provided, irrespective of that politician’s stance on the larger, more weighty, geo-political issues. What then of business, is all business local or international?

Shopping Is An Experience

The world has changed dramatically since the days when neighborhood shopping was the main option, and people relied on their local merchants for products and services. The world of commerce today seems to be divided between two competing scenarios: on the one hand, people are more mobile than ever before, and more willing to travel to buy what they want, even with wildly fluctuating energy costs; and on the other hand, people are busier than ever and use the Internet to seek out the companies, products, and services they want and need. What seems to be consistent is the underlying need to feel something, to experience the process. The higher the value, the greater the psychological component to the buying experience. The same is true for products and services that are considered non-essential.

People Wonder Why They Can’t Sell More Stuff

We all have our favorite stores and websites, where we know we will be looked-after with more than the ubiquitous and perfunctory, “have a nice day,” but sadly that sense of service is all but lost in a misguided rush to pseudo efficiency. Brick and mortar stores with their part-time, minimum wage time-fillers whose only talent seems to be a vacant blank stare accompanied by “that’s not my department” is bad enough. But what of websites that don’t accept phone calls, or any other kind of inquiry other than a form email that you can be assured will be answered in a week or two, along with a request for more information that generally corresponds to the information you’ve already provided - that’s what passes for website service today. And people wonder why they can’t sell more stuff.

The Web Is An International Venue

The Web of course presents one additional wrinkle to the service issue, one that puts a premium on communicating your message effectively: the Web is an international venue. No matter what you do, or where you’re located, you can be sure people from all parts of the world are visiting your website if you have something of value to say. This then puts a premium on your ability to articulate a coherent message, one that eliminates the need for visitors to phone Mumbai, Beijing, or Lickskillet, Ohio.

English speaking companies have a hard enough time communicating effectively, but what of non-English speaking companies trying to break into the North American market? You find websites in many different languages, catering to local markets, but if you’re looking for North American exposure, you best deliver your message in the language of the Web, and like it or not, that language is English.

Words Have Meaning

Far be it from me to criticize CBS news anchor Katie Couric, who generally does a fine job, but when she refers to the Democrats winning the House, Senate, and Presidency as “single party rule” it raises the hackles on the back of my neck. Words have meaning and presentation has impact. But I am not just talking about proper grammar, syntax, and usage, something many of us stumble over at times, but what of idiom, metaphor, and voice; elements that are just as important in effective marketing communication as proper usage.

Years ago while visiting London, England I passed a store with the sign that read “Fags and Mags,” a disconcerting message until I got acclimatized to the British slang. When it comes to marketing, you can get away with a lot, but even countries that speak the same language have different patois, slang, and cultural references.

One of the great advantages of being from Canada with its proximity to the USA, its historical ties to the British Commonwealth, and its multicultural population is that we understand these differences and can translate them into effective North American marketing campaigns.

Crafting Your Web Marketing Message

What do you sell? A seemingly simple question any business executive should be able to answer, but can they answer it accurately? Ask yourself: do you sell a product, a service, or a concept? Does a shoe store sell shoes, or comfort and status? Does an accountant sell auditing services, or legitimacy and security? Does a politician sell tax cuts, or a better future?

When it comes to marketing you have to think concepts; if you build your advertising around products or services rather than concepts you will never be able to develop an effective campaign, let alone an effective website presentation.

Take Target and Walmart for example: they both sell similar products for the most part, a problem many retailers and most distributors have but refuse to face. Target markets itself as the leader in low priced, designer-styled merchandise, a distinct marketing position compared to Walmart that markets itself as the low priced leader and the heck with design. Each company delivers a unique marketing concept, one targeting consumers interested in price alone, the other aimed at shoppers who want a little style with their bargains: two different concepts, two different brand positions, and two different marketing strategies.

We All Sell Concepts Not Products and Services

One way or another we all sell a concept no matter what the product or service. When a client approaches us with the question “why aren’t we selling more stuff?” a quick review of their site usually provides the answer: their website is not articulating in any meaningful, memorable manner, the conceptual premium their product or service delivers.

Before you invest in a new website or Web marketing campaign, decide what concept you are actually delivering. That concept is the basis of your marketing strategy and it informs what you say and how you say it.

Selling Concepts Is All About The Presentation

The recent US election is a great example of how to sell a concept. Putting all political bias aside look at the difference between how Obama approached his speeches and how McCain approached his. Of course both men talked about their policies and how they would handle different domestic and international situations.

McCain spoke to his constituency and delivered what they wanted to hear, but his words and presentation style fell far short of motivating the undecided or converting non-believers. Accusing a fellow Senator and Harvard Law alumni, with red baiting language like “redistributing the wealth” was obvious code language that failed the sniff test to all but his staunch backers.

Compare McCain’s efforts to motivate through distrust and fear to Obama’s message of hope, with his “Yes We Can” catchphrase echoing the American ‘can do’ spirit and traditional approach to solving problems. Not only did Obama say the right words to motivate his audience, he delivered his message with the motivational rhythm and cadence of an inspirational preacher.

Whether you’re selling a political agenda or carbonated sugar water, you must learn to communicate your marketing concept in a way that people will understand, remember, and act upon.

Concepts Are Universal

The Web is an international venue. If you have something of value to say or sell, you will attract an international audience. Foreign companies that want to access the USA market must learn to speak “American” or hire a marketing communication company that does. American companies that want to grow beyond their local markets must learn to think concepts, the universal language of sales.

Best Tips to Eliminate your Acne and Pimples Fast

Thursday, April 9th, 2009
Elizabeth Mcmillan asked:

Many people experience acne not only as youths, or during puberty, but well into their adult years. Often, many individuals, especially women, don’t experience acne breakouts, pimples, or hormonal blemishes into their 20s and 30s. Plagued by recently developed acne, many people simply don’t know where to turn. What has caused their acne to develop? Only one reason—your body’s production of sebum has begun to change and this can occur at any point in life—not just during adolescence. But, don’t be dismayed, there is hope for you spur of acne, pimples, breakouts, and blemishes. Even if you are experiencing larger pores, whiteheads, papules, or blackheads, you can control your acne by doing natural things to regulate your body’s sebum (oil) production. If you do not regulate your body’s sebum (oil) production internally; unfortunately, your white blood cells will respond to the sebum by trying to release it from your body; unfortunately, your pores will be the dumping system of choice. As a result, you will have acne. Here are a few tips to help you regulate your sebum production:

1) Flush your system on a weekly basis. I know we all hate to discuss things such as this, but do you remember your mom and grandparents always bugging you to keep your system clean? I do. Well, those same people had some good points because they had a lot less acne and pimples than we do. How can you flush? Drink pineapple and prune juice. Yes, prune juice is disgusting, but it will alleviate excess sebum, toxins, and waste from your body that may trigger acne breakouts. Beat the sebum and toxins from getting to your pores. You can purchase prune juice or pineapple juice at your local grocer. WalMart actually makes a prune juice that contains no preservatives, which is a shocking plus, considering it is WalMart.

2) Use All-Natural Skin Care Products. Many people are unaware that they have allergic reactions to their personal care products due to the chemicals in them. Parabens, often used preservatives in skin and hair care products, are known cancer-causing agents. The Cosmetic and Toiletry Association identified sulfates and glycols as skin irritants and DEA has been found to cause cancer, nausea, vomiting, skin irritation, and a host of other problems. While you will have to cleanse your skin to get rid of your acne, you don’t have to place more chemicals on it that will aggravate your acne and blemishes or rip your outer layer of skin. A recent study conducted by a beauty magazine, ranked Beauty 4 Ashes ® Naturally Clear Acne System and Aubrey Organics ® (www.aubreyorganics.com) as two natural skin care choices that can help acne. Beauty 4 Ashes ® Naturally Clear System actually ranked very high, (4.5 out of 5 stars) cited for its ability to lighten acne scars and reduce pimple and pore size quickly. The Beauty 4 Ashes ® Naturally Clear System (wwwdiscoverb4acom) contains citrus fruits, essential fatty acids, sebum controlling essential oils, natural astringents, green tea, aloe vera, and many other ingredients that have been clinically proven to reduce acne. Because of its ability to control sebum production it was noted as a top choice between natural and synthetic acne products for adult and teen acne.

3) Take Your Vitamins. Vitamin C, B Vitamins, and Essential Fatty Acids have been proven to have a beneficial effect on creating, clear, healthy, balanced skin. Vitamin C has also been shown to lighten acne scars and fight infections, while Essential Fatty Acids have been shown to detox the body and cleanse the system. Take Vitamin C and Essential Fatty Acids on a daily basis. Natrol ® makes a great Vitamin C tablet and surprisingly, Dr. Atkins makes a great Essential Fatty Acids pill. You can both online at wwwdrugstorecom or you can check your local CVS pharmacy.

4) Drink water sweetened with lemon juice, Splenda ®, and apple cider vinegar. Yes, I know this sounds awful, but both lemon juice and apple cider vinegar are known to balance the skin’s PH and detoxify your system. Add as much Splenda® as necessary to make this tolerable. All you need is ½ teaspoon of both in 1 cup of water 1-2 times a day for this to be effective. Your acne and acne scars will improve. Your skin will also become clearer, more even toned, and firmer overall. It is just the price you pay for naturally fighting blemishes and pimples without harming your skin with the additional chemicals and acids in traditional acne medications, such as Proactiv, Retin-A, and Accutane (but, don’t be mistaken, these will work for some individuals).

How To Save Big Money On Repairs And Auto Parts

Monday, April 6th, 2009
David Maillie asked:

We all know it is cheaper to fix things yourself. It is the same with a car or truck. The biggest expense with any repair is not the parts, but the labor. It is not uncommon for repair and service shops to be charging $60 to $70 per hour of labor. And they round to the next half hour or hour for any repair. Just go to any new car dealer and ask to have your windshield wiper blades replaced. They will charge you 10 times the price of replacements at your local auto parts store. So anything you can do yourself to save will be a big help. The purpose of this article is to show you some things you can do on your own and how to get the lowest prices on parts so you can save big and put your money towards something better than fattening your local auto dealers pockets.

First off is routine maintenance. Routine maintenance consists of items like oil changes, tire rotations, and similar. Oil changes are a must at every 4000 to 5000 miles for most every car. Do not go by what your dealer says. They want to rev up your maintenance plan and have you doing more than is required. Instead, use your owners manual. If your car did not come with one, than buy one off of Ebay. The owners manual will give you exact recommendations for every service and when and what should be done. For oil changes use Walmart. They charge around $15 for a oil and filter change and will lube your chassis at the same time. They will also check your tires and change your air filter if you desire or need it. They have the best service for the lowest price and at $15 its better to have them do it than do it yourself. Expect to pay twice this at a new car dealer.

It is also a good idea to check your tire pressure at every gas fill up. A tire pressure gauge can be purchased at Walmart or any auto parts store for a few dollars. Proper tire pressure will prolong the usefulness of your tires and help ensure better fuel economy. To most people a under inflated tire is pretty obvious, but a over inflated tire can be just as dangerous as it can lead to blowouts and loss of traction especially in wet conditions (hydroplaning). Also, check your tires for nails, punctures, slashes, anything that could be wrong with it. If you need new tires, be sure to shop around and avoid the new car dealer as they will have a huge markup on them. For instance, 1 ZR Goodyear tire for a 2002 Ford Mustang GT was $289. The same ZR tire with a different make (Kumho) was $100 installed and balanced (the $289 at the dealer did not include installation or balancing. Shop around and look at discount stores. Also look at Costco, Sams club and BJs for tires. If you have an older car and do not care about matching the exact style you can always go to your local junk yard and buy an entire set for dirt cheap. You would be amavzed at what you might find there. A friend of mine picked up 4 tires for a 1999 corvette for $150 and the tires only had maybe 10,000 miles on them if that.

Lights and lighting on your car are an item that is routinely overlooked. If your lights are dim you could have a battery charge, alternator or dim, cloudy lenses. These are all easy to fix. A battery should be checked for its ability to hold charge at least once a year (more in extremely cold climates). An alternator can be replaced very easily, or if you do not feel comfortable a local mechanic can do it. Do not do this at a new car dealer as they will charge at least 300% more. A good tip is to go and buy the part at your local auto parts store and then inquire with the counter clerk as to a mechanic that they recommend to install it. You will save a lot and it will be professionally done. They will probably even come to your house to do it. As to your headlights, turn on your lights. If they are dim, is it the bulb or cloudy lenses? If it is the bulb, the cheapest replacements can be found at Walmart or on Ebay. It is recommended you go with brighter Xeon bulbs as they are only a few dollars more and increase brightness and night visibility by over 20 percent. If it is cloudy headlights there is a new headlight repair and restoration kit that will restore the lenses to new. This will save you big over replacement as the average plastic automotive lens costs $250 to replace.

Checking your fluid levels routinely is a good idea. A lot of cars now will do this for you and will even alert you to when it is time to perform a certain service. It takes 2 minutes to unscrew the oil cap and pull out the dipstick. On older cars you should also look under the cap. Is the oil really dirty, sludge like, or have white in it? These all indicate something needs to be done. The first two mean it is in dire need of an oil change. The latter with the whiteness or light chocolate look means you have a blown head gasket and coolant is leaking into the engine. That is really bad and requires major repairs and can be the result of running a car too hot. Fill all fluids to the fuel full line or indicator. By routinely checking your cars fluid levels you will be ahead of the game and keep your car running better and for much longer.

Another great idea to keep service costs to a minimum and save you big at the same time is to buy 1 to 3 year old used cars with around 30,000 miles on them. Then drive them until you get 100,000 miles on it and replace it. Most major repairs rarely occur before 100,000 miles with proper routine maintenance. Use and follow your owners manual. It was written by the ultimate expert, the people who built, designed and tested your car.

Glocal - What is in a Word?

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Charles Gill asked:

Glocal or more frequently Glocalization is a word now in more common usage that has, surprisingly, been around for almost 2 decades. According to Wikipedia it was coined a generation ago by Dr. Manfred Lange in Bonn, Germany in 1990 while preparing for the Global Change Exhibition. He was interested in the interaction between local, regional and global interactions hence coining the term GLOCAL.

Such forces are recognisable in efforts to prevent or modify the plans for the local construction of buildings for global corporate enterprises. These global entities are generally well-known brands - the Macdonalds, Asda/Walmart, Tesco, Sainsburies et al. For example, in The World is Flat, (Amazon.com), Thomas L. Friedman talks about how the Internet encourages glocalisation, such as encouraging people to make websites presented on the Global Internet in their native and hence local languages. In the Uk evidence can be seen of glocalisation where the big four supermarkets (the global marketers) have destroyed the small business by taking away the local market. The average High Street or shopping mall no longer has an independent baker, butcher, fishmonger, florist or grocer. All High Streets now appear to be clones with only global chains in place particularly in the retail food industry.

In the past the UK was allegedly referred to as “a nation of shopkeepers” by Napolean Bonaparte. More recently than that we were well known for having a public house, PUB, on every street corner. Now, sadly, we are saddled with Macdonalds, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Kentucky Fried Chicken and increasingly Tesco local and Sainsburys local stores replacing the small businesses that they have destroyed in the past and stifling the real development of a local economy. Increasingly, as consumers move towards healthier, organic locally sourced food in order to reduce the carbon cost and minimise food miles, the major global chains are claiming that they are entering the market. Now locally produced food can be sourced, driven hundreds of miles to a distribution hub and then driven the hundred miles or so back as a local product.

Now some marketers are trying to utilise global branding for marketing on a local basis TAG has taken the concept of independent financial advisers and linked them nationally to develop a nationwide internet based organisation. Now it is possible to simply search online for the local provider of the insurance product required.

Why do produce and meats from Walmart seem to spoil more quickly?

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009
oh geez asked:

I did a little grocery shopping at Walmart for the first time last Thursday instead of my usual visit to Kroger, and I picked up the same type of Hillshire Farm meat like I always do. I made a sandwich with it today, and couldn’t stop smelling some sort of wet dog smell. I sniffed the container and it smelled like something died in there! I’ve never had a problem with it going bad before in a week. Does this have something to do with it coming from Walmart?

PS: Don’t ever buy perishable food at Walmart.

Tamara
